感动

到现在我知道身为老师，原来最让我感动的不是成绩，不是别人认同的眼神，不是上司的认同。

到现在我知道身为老师，最让我感动的原来是学生们感激的眼神，最让我感动的原来是学生们的一句：“老师，谢谢你，如果不是你，我今天拿不到这样的好成绩。”。

到现在我知道身为老师，最让我感动的原来也是同事们的团结，同事们一起的努力，同事们的支持与合作。

虽然成绩不是理想的，到现在我知道身为老师，最让我感动的不是成绩，而是谢谢与团结。

Feeling blue.......

Really not in a good mood today. Feel so lethargic. Feel so blue. Maybe because it is Monday, maybe because of stress, maybe because I did not manage to sleep well last night. Hopefully tomorrow will be better........

Six degrees of separation

I realised that the world is really very small, especially in Singapore. I have a colleague whose husband is the uncle of a church friend of mine. We never realised it until I went for the colleague's wedding dinner and was so surprised to see my friend at the same dinner. Another of my colleague came up to me one day and asked if I know this other church friend of mine. It turns out that they were secondary school classmates and they realised they have a common friend (i.e. me) during one of their gatherings. Wow!

Some of you may have heard about the Six Degrees of Separation. In short, it means anyone on the planet can be connected to any other person on the planet through a chain of acquaintances that has no more than five intermediaries. I wonder how true is that..........

Car Decal

Miss K gave me a car decal that reads "The closer you are, the slower I'll drive". Of course I pasted it at the back of my car. Ha ha.....

I am extremely irritated by people who tailgate me even though I am driving at a fast speed. I wonder why they like to keep such a close distance. So, what I usually do is I slow down. With the decal Miss K gave, I think they will get the message...... :)

Update my blog

Miss K said I have not updated my blog for a while, so here I am, on a Sunday night, updating my blog after more than a month. Ok, Miss K, I will try and update my blog more often this year. :)

December was a month of rest for me, I supposed. However, going for 2 trips consecutively can be tiring, at the same time exciting and fun. The trip to Li Jiang, China was nice, the place is beautiful but..... the trekking was....... how should I put it.......challenging? I trekked for closed to 6 hours, I was told we walked 18km (up slopes, down slopes, straight road), the air was thin, the weather was cold........ I never trekked so much in my life before and I guess I can say it is an accomplishment for me. Trekking 18km there is different to walking 18 km in Singapore. The roads are different, weather is not the same as Singapore etc....... Anyway, it was an experience.

The trip to Paris and Barcelona was more relaxing. I love Paris. The city is so beautiful, even in winter. The place I love most is still Eiffel Tower. I find it so beautiful. :) Most of you would not know this, but this is actually my second trip to Paris. The first trip was many years back when I was about 3-4 years old, with my parents. Of course, I cannot remember much of the place then. Maybe I should take out my old photos in Paris and put them side by side with those that I have taken during the recent trip. :) Not a bad idea............... I will think about it......

My overseas trips in December !!

In the month of December, I will be overseas for most of the month. From 1 Dec to 8 Dec, I will be in China and from 9 Dec to 23 Dec, I will be in Europe.

Why China? We are bringing a group of students to Li Jiang for a CIP cum culture immersion trip. There will be school visits, trekking, sight seeing etc. I have been to China before but not Li Jiang. Before I was asked to go for this trip, I had no idea what kind of place Li Jiang is. According to my colleagues, it is a nice place with beautiful scenery. I have seen some pictures of the place and the place is really beautiful. (I think some of the pictures remind me of scenes from a 武侠小说.)

Why Europe? Why not Europe?! I have always love Europe! This time we are going to Paris and Barcelona. I am excited! I am going for a free and easy trip and not following a tour group. I never like tour group and always prefer to travel free and easy. Following a tour group may be easier and less trouble, but seriously, it is less enjoyable. When doing free and easy travel, there are more work involved. We need to do lot more research, book our own tickets and hotels, plan our own itinerary etc. However, I feel this is the fun part when I really learn more about a place. When touring a country, I will always learn to take their public transport or try to walk as much as possible so I can see the lifestyle and learn more about the place. And of course, free and easy travel is always more flexible. No need to wait for people and if we need to change the itinerary for the day, we can always do it.

Two more weeks to the month of December and I will be flying.......... :)
